- Ted Colquhoun called for a vote on postponing the Spring Festivities. The following information was sent to the FTVA membership:
Howdy Y’all,
I hope the end of the winter season finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. I am writing to provide you an update on the FTVA Annual Reunion event we had rescheduled for 24-26 March 2022 (from Sept 2021). As I previously promised you, we would provide you an update after our meeting on 18 February and unfortunately we are again going to have to postpone the March event and start anew with our planning for September 2022.
After speaking with a number of Chapter Presidents and going through the numerous emails we received following the notifications sent out in December and January we voted to postpone and begin planning in earnest for September 2022.
While the vote wasn’t unanimous, we had to consider the number of issues plaguing our planning efforts to include COVID protocols still in place, limited capacity restrictions on base, security issues affecting access to base for non-ID card holders, and uncertainty on travel issues, just to name a few. Following the meeting we engaged with 16 AF senior leadership and they are committed to ensuring we have a smooth event in September and will begin their first planning meetings next month to ramp up their committees. As always, our FTVA points of contacts for the events will be involved in the planning process. I am also going to ask one of our senior FTVA members on the 16 AF staff to provide some additional oversight and guidance to the planning committees.
Of immediate concern is the schedule for September. Our banquet coordinator negotiated a date with the Gateway Club staff on Lackland AFB and due to several weddings planned for the venue we had to shift our events earlier in September.
I realize the numerous changes over the past two years has caused inconveniences for a lot of folks, especially those trying to plan travel and lodging arrangements, but we want to make sure we are providing everyone a safe environment and following Air Force COVID protocols at the same time.
Our schedule of events for September are as follows:
- Thursday, 08 September 2022
- Golf tournament at Golf Club of Texas
- 10:00 AM, Check-in begins 9:00 AM
- Event POC – Bob Benitez
- Friday, 09 September 2022

- 11:00 AM

- Saturday, 10 September 2022

I personally apologize for all the issues we are encountering, but needed to get the information out to you. I am available to discuss all the issues if you want to reach out to me. Please email me at ted.colquhoun13@gmail.com
