Dennis “Rass” Rassmussen | Ron Haygood |
Doug Holden | Joe Hurst |

MSgt Rafael Rodriguez (AFISRA SENSOR OLYMPICS) |
2. MINUTES: The Minutes of the October 2008 meeting were read and approved.
3. TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer’s Report was presented and filed for audit.
4. OLD BUSINESS:
a. 2009 FTVA REUNION. The Club and Golf Course are already reserved for the 2009 FTVA Reunion festivities.
b. 2009 SPRING SOCIAL. Tentative date of 4 April. Need to decide on guest speaker. Chris Cook will discuss with Ken Williams.
c. HATS AND COINS. Sue Douglas will start shipping hats out to all who ordered. Will save some for presentos for the returning heroes at our Spring Social. Doug Holden is taking care of the last of the coins. Jim McLendon suggested using FTVA coins to open doors with corporate sponsors — something to consider.
d. MEMBERSHIP DUES. Dues have never been raised, and costs for everything are going up. After lengthy discussion, motion was made, seconded, and approved to raise annual dues from $15 to $20, and then add $20 to each age bracket for lifetime membership dues effective 15 April 2009. Date selected mostly so it could be announced in the next newsletter before implementing.
e. GEN KOZIOL GOING AWAY GIFT. After lengthy discussion, motion made, seconded, and approved to donate $100 to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in Gen Koziol’s name.
5. NEW BUSINESS.
a. THE “STU” AWARD. The Air Force ISR Agency Tactics Analysis and Reporting Program (TARP) program manager wants to present an annual “STU” Award to the best TARP team for the year. Because CMSgt (Ret) Stu Engbretson is considered the “Father of the TARP Program” and Stu is an FTVA Hall of Honor member, the TARP PM is offering an opportunity for FTVA to sponsor the award. Decision was to invite the TARP PM to the January 2009 meeting to share more information so we could make an informed decision. Discussion included the possibility of sponsoring a similar award in the SOF community to honor Direct Support Operators (DSOs).
b. AFISRA/HO is looking for old copies of the Spokesman Magazine. Several old issues from throughout the past ended up destroyed or otherwise missing from the AFISRA History Office. If anyone has old copies available, please let us know. Will try to get info on exact issues needed for next meeting and newsletter.
c. MEMBERSHIP REPORT. Currently have 541 life members, a good increase from this time last year when we had 238.
5. CORRESPONDENCE.
a. BIO for new AFISRA/CC was passed around so all could read.
b. Thank you card from new owner of “the mug” that was found on E-Bay from an old time USAFSS member in Europe dated 1954. The man’s widow lives in San Antonio, and Chris Cook was able to get the mug to her in person.
6. AROUND THE ROOM:
a. Air Force ISR Agency/SENSOR OLYMPICS. MSgt Rafe Rodriguez is getting ready to deploy for 365 days, and expressed sincere appreciation to FTVA for all the outstanding support to the program. The next AFISRA/SENSOR O manager has not yet been selected. Discussions are underway to change the name to include Maj Gen Doyle E. Larson, but nothing finalized yet. 2009 will be the 30th anniversary of the SENSOR OLYMPICS, and the plan is to invite Mrs. Doyle E. Larson to the event.
b. AFISRA/PA Mr Wayne Amann. The AFISRA Ambassadors for 2009 will be selected and announced soon. It might be good to invite them to the Spring Social. Mr Amann expressed sincere appreciation for all the outstanding support provided by FTVA over the years.
7. There being no further business, motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn at 1500. There will be no FTVA BOD meeting for December. The next scheduled meeting will be January 16, 2009, in the SSFCU Board of Directors Conference Room at 1330.
Respectfully Submitted,
Loren “Phred” Sevening
FTVA Secretary
