2. MINUTES: The Minutes of the August, 2008 meeting were read and approved as amended.
3. TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer’s Report was presented and filed for audit. Motion was made, seconded, and approved to send a check for $75 to the Air Force ISR Agency/A2 Booster Club for their help with the water and sodas at the 60th Anniversary Picnic. We have not raised our dues in many years, and it might be time to consider doing so. The cost of printing and mailing the newsletter is going up, and a lot of our newsletters go overseas, which adds to the cost of mailing. This issued is TABLED until the next meeting.
4. OLD BUSINESS: FTVA REUNION UPDATE:
a. GOLF TOURNAMENT. A successful event, on track for next year.
b. REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY. Successful event. Everything went well, the flyover, the Alzafar Shriner’s Bagpipe band, the weather….need to work on a better transition between President’s remarks and the remembrance roll call list read by Joe Hurst. Motion was made, seconded, and approved to send the Alzafar Shriner’s Bagpipe Band $125.
c. PICNIC. Excellent event….ran out of beer too soon. Water and sodas were great.
d. HALL OF HONOR. Went relatively well…need a better narrator that is familiar with the history of the Agency and the acronyms. The narrator read the bios once again, need to shorten the comments up a lot to keep the event moving and captivating.
e. STATE OF THE AGENCY Briefing. Excellent update from Acting Vice Commander Col Jon Kimminau.
f. GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING. We elected our Treasurer and Secretary into office once again.
g. BANQUET. GREAT Master of Ceremonies, great event….poor acoustics, several people had trouble hearing everything….excellent presentation by the guest speaker.
5. NEW BUSINESS.
a. Dates for next year’s Anniversary Events? 24-26 SEP 2009. Will confirm with the Golf Course and the Club, and then post on our website.
b. Remaining hats. There are about 150 hats left over. Motion made, seconded, and approved to give each SENSOR OLYMPICS finalist a hat. All remaining hats and coins will be made available on our website. Vice President Sue Douglas will honcho the hats.
c. Remaining coins. Will advertise the coins on our website for a $7.50 donation (includes shipping). Doug Holden will honcho the coins.
d. SENSOR OLYMPICS. The Banquet will be held on the 6th of November at the Gateway Club. MSgt Heather Ransom is the POC for RSVP, be sure to sign up quickly as seats are going fast. The FTVA presentation and catered luncheon will be on the 5th of November. Each SENSOR O finalist will get a free one year FTVA membership, Kenny O’Neal will attend the FTVA presentation and luncheon and advertise the free memberships.
e. SPRING SOCIAL. Recommended date is 4 April 2009 at the Kelly Field Club. Will invite recent deployment returnees.
5. CORRESPONDENCE.
a. Letter from James C. Wheeler and the EC-47 organization. A serious mis-communication and misperception. President Chris Cook as drafting a response.
b. Letter from Rick Yeh about the Remembrance Ceremony and other Anniversary Events.
c. Letter from Retired General Mike Hayden, Director of the CIA, thanking us for congratulating him on his retirement from the Air Force.
d. Draft letter from FTVA President Chris Cook to Air Force ISR Agency Commander, Lt General-select Koziol thanking him for his outstanding hospitality during the 60th Anniversary celebration events.
e. Letter from Hall of Honor Inductee Tom Giroir thanking FTVA for continued outstanding support.
f. Letter and DVD from Bruce Foreman in San Angelo, TX congratulating FTVA on another successful anniversary event. The DVD is a collage of events and is available on the USAFSS RollCall website.
6. AROUND THE ROOM:
a. Air Force ISR Agency/PA Mr Wayne Amann. It is good to put faces to names, he wanted to reach out to the FTVA Board of Directors to establish a good working relationship and see how the BOD works behind the scenes of the FTVA. President Chris Cook offered assistance on any future Spokesman articles, and emphasized our desire for a good rapport with the Air Force ISR Agency PA and History Office.
b. Air Force ISR Agency rep Col Amanda Gladney. Passing along sincere appreciation from Gen Koziol for all the outstanding support with the 60th Anniversary Events, everything went extremely well. Gen Koziol has an extensive “to-do” list before he leaves, which will probably be shortly after the first of the year.
c. Introduced Hall of Honor Inductee Lee Anthony as a potential candidate for FTVA Historian, assuming duties from outgoing Marco Aldaz.
d. Introduced John Knotts as a potential candidate for FTVA Social Chair to take over for Ken Williams to give him a break from his seriously overtasked schedule.
e. 1 NOV 2008 is submission cutoff date for next newsletter.
7. There being no further business, motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn at 1507. There will be no FTVA BOD meeting for December. The next scheduled meeting will be January 16, 2009, in the SSFCU Board of Directors Conference Room at 1330.
Respectfully Submitted,
Loren “Phred” Sevening
FTVA Secretary
